The Center for Health Affairs, Greater Cleveland Career Consortium Team Up for High School Health Career Event
CLEVELAND – The Center for Health Affairs and the Greater Cleveland Career Consortium (GCCC) have joined forces to connect area high school students to career-based learning opportunities in healthcare. Through a health career event set to take place in fall 2024, GCCC and The Center aim to inspire and educate students about the diverse employment opportunities available in the healthcare industry.

This collaboration aligns The Center’s mission of bringing together healthcare and community partners to positively impact medical, social and economic health in the communities it serves with GCCC’s mission to grow and sustain a diverse and equitable talent pipeline in the region and its expertise in working with students to connect them with careers.
“With this event, we hope to foster early interest and awareness in healthcare career pathways among high school students in Greater Cleveland,” said Joy Johnson, chair of The Center for Health Affairs’ Community Health Affairs Board of Directors and executive director of Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. “Our goal is that the event will contribute to the development of a skilled and passionate local workforce that will positively impact the healthcare landscape and promote economic development in the region.”
By partnering, GCCC and The Center underscore their commitment to addressing the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the healthcare sector. Combining their expertise, the two organizations aim to provide valuable insights and resources to high school students who are considering a career in healthcare.

The focus of the event will be interactive workshops led by healthcare professionals, offering students a hands-on experience and glimpse into a variety of roles across a range of healthcare fields. During and after the event, students will have opportunities to learn from, work with, and present projects to industry experts and representatives from regional healthcare institutions.
